We were much later told that the Plaquenil had "lowered his tolerance to infection, as it is also an immuno-suppressant." In essence, the medicine allowed the viral infection to cross the barrier between his brain and blood/lungs. His/our question is as to whether he can or should EVER go back on the medication and risk exposure to further illnesses if it is true that Plaquenil or the generic for is, in fact, an immuno-suppressant and presents a serious health risk for him?

Feb 19, 2020 PLAQUENIL prolongs the QT interval. Ventricular arrhythmias and torsades de pointes have been reported in patients taking PLAQUENIL see OVERDOSAGE. Therefore, PLAQUENIL should not be administered with other drugs that have the potential to prolong the QT interval see DRUG INTERACTIONS. Worsening Of Psorias Is And Porphyria I was put on Plaquenil for RA as I was being dx for lupus. I am very mild. My rhuemy wants me to stop every time I have an infection. When it is gone she said I can resume at my own pace. Take into consideration I only take Plaquenil and ibuprofen 800mg. My symptoms came back after two weeks of being off it. However it leads us vulnerable to infections. If you have an infection, you want your immune system to be working at a high level, to attack the bug that is causing the infection. So discontinuing Cellcept makes sense. I'm not as sure about Plaquenil.

We've been told that his 'count' (900 cells per 1,000) was the highest infection level in the spinal fluid that the doctors had ever seen. All the patients they'd encountered w/lower levels had died. (He was never told of that risk when he was put on the medication.) Added : What I failed to mention (above) is that he almost died in April when this happened.

Feb 19, 2020 SIDE EFFECTS. The following adverse reactions have been identified during post-approval use of PLAQUENIL or other 4-aminoqunoline compounds. Because these reactions are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship to drug exposure. I also take diclofenac twice a day and prednisone when I need it. I just started with a regular sinus headache last week that turned into a respiratory infection. I have been on antibiotics for 5 days along with prednisone and feel like I am not getting any better. I already have asthma and take singular, Advair and have a rescue inhailer. Plaquenil Hydroxychloroquine belongs to a group of medications known as anti-inflammatories and antimalarials. It is used alone or in combination with other anti-arthritic medications to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It helps to reduce pain, stiffness, and swelling in joints.

Heat intolerance new to this disease Hi all, I'm a relatively new patient to this disease, so I don't know the in's and out's. My question is about my sudden terrible intolerance to heat, not sunlight, but heat. I'm sweating all the time, even when the air is on, and my limbs, especially my legs are really beginning to ache,
